Firestone's free family festival lands Saturday, June 6. Here is what Barefoot Lakes families can expect at Stoneridge Park — and why it is worth the short drive.

The basics: free, Saturday, June 6, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Carbon Valley Kids Day is a free, family-friendly event hosted by the Town of Firestone on Saturday, June 6, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Stoneridge Park, 5104 Ruby Avenue. There is no ticket and no admission charge — simply show up! For Barefoot Lakes households looking for a fun, local way to kick off the summer, three hours of music, food, and activities a short drive from home is hard to beat.
The event grew out of what used to be the Carbon Valley Resource Fair. The Town kept the original mission — connecting families with the nonprofits and organizations that serve the area — and built a livelier, more kid-centered day around it.
What to Expect at Stoneridge Park
Live music from DJ Greg keeping the energy up across the three hours.
Bounce houses and hands-on activities spread through the park.
Food trucks, so lunch is covered without leaving the event.
The Children's Entrepreneur Market, where kids run their own booths.
Booths from local nonprofits and community organizations.
There is also a Community Donation Drive running during the event. Attendees can bring non-perishable food, toiletries, and household essentials to support local families through the Carbon Valley Help Center. Bring a bag of canned goods to make the trip count for more than an afternoon out.
The Children's Entrepreneur Market
Young vendors design a product, set their prices, run their own booth, and handle customers for the day. If your child has been talking about selling slime, friendship bracelets, baked goods, or art, this is place to try it. Families who want a child to take part as a seller should check the Town's event page early, since vendor spots in markets like this tend to fill before the event date.
Getting there from Barefoot Lakes
Stoneridge Park sits in central Firestone on Ruby Avenue, a short drive from Barefoot Lakes — well under fifteen minutes from most homes in the community, and often closer to ten. Parking is the usual consideration for a popular town event: arrive a little before 11 a.m. for the easiest spot, and be ready to walk a short distance from nearby streets if the main lot fills. Strollers and wagons are worth bringing for younger kids, and don't forget — hats, sunscreen, and water bottles!
One stop on a full Carbon Valley summer
Kids Day is an early marker on a summer calendar that stays busy in Firestone. The Town's Programs & Events schedule typically carries on through Picnic in the Park, the Food & Flick outdoor movie nights, and the 23rd Annual 4th at Firestone, the area's marquee Independence Day celebration. Full details for Kids Day itself are on the Carbon Valley Kids Day page at firestoneco.gov.
We have raised a family in Carbon Valley, and the free town events are one of the genuinely good parts of living here — they make a new neighborhood feel like a community quickly. If you are new to Barefoot Lakes, or thinking about a move, a day like this is a fair preview of what the area's calendar actually looks like.
