Mark Your Calendar: Firestone's Fall Event Lineup
Three community events worth bookmarking between now and late October — National Night Out, Picnic in the Park, and the Firestone Art & Music Show.

Summer at Barefoot tends to revolve around the water — The Cove, the lakes, long evenings on the trails. As the season turns, the rhythm shifts to the town calendar, and Firestone has a genuinely good run of community events lined up between now and late October. Here are three worth putting on the fridge, in the order they happen.
National Night Out — Tuesday, August 4
National Night Out is the nationwide community-and-police block party held every year on the first Tuesday of August, and in 2026 that lands on August 4. It is the easy one to start with: free, family-friendly, and built around meeting your neighbors and the folks who serve the town. The Firestone Police Department hosts the local event, so expect the usual mix of food, a few emergency vehicles for the kids to climb on, and a low-key evening outdoors. Locations and start times can move year to year, so confirm this year's spot and hours on the Town of Firestone site before you head over.
Why go: It is the friendliest possible way to actually meet the people who live around you — which, if you are new to Barefoot, is worth more than it sounds.
Firestone Picnic in the Park — Friday, September 11
A few weeks later, the town's Picnic in the Park returns on September 11, 2026. This is the classic end-of-summer community gathering: bring a blanket, grab dinner, and settle in for an evening in the park. It is the kind of unhurried, everyone-is-welcome event that gives a town its texture, and it is an easy walk-or-short-drive from most of the Barefoot neighborhoods.
Why go: One relaxed evening tells you more about the community feel of Firestone than a dozen listing photos ever could.
Firestone Art & Music Show — September 17 through October 22
The one with the longest runway is the Firestone Art & Music Show, which fills the Carbon Valley Regional Library with work from local and regional artists from September 17 through October 22, 2026. Unlike a one-night event, this is a five-week exhibit you can drop into any time the library is open. There is also a free public reception on Friday, September 25 from 6 to 8 p.m., where you can meet the artists and see the work with the crowd.
Why go: It is free, it is indoors, and it doubles as a reason to get to know the Carbon Valley Regional Library — one of the quiet everyday amenities that comes with living out here.
One thing to take away
String these together and you get a nice arc of fall: a neighborly night in early August, a picnic to close out summer in September, and an art show that carries you into late October. For anyone weighing a move to Barefoot, the town calendar is part of the answer to "what is it actually like to live here?" These three are a low-commitment way to find out — show up to one, and you will get a real feel for Firestone without a single sales pitch.
